BINTULU: 30 exco members of the Sarawak Kenyah National Association (SKNA) paid a courtesy call on Bintulu Member of Parliament, Dato Seri Tiong King Sing who is also the President of Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) at his People’s Service Centre near here recently.
The group, comprising Youth and Women chiefs of PDP TelangUsan and community leaders in Baram, was led by SKNA chairman and Murum State Assemblyman, Kennedy Chukpai Ugon .
While expressing their undivided support for Tiong’s leadership as the president of PDP, they also askedTiong to retain Baram Member of Parliament, Anyi Ngau as a candidate in the forthcoming 14th Malaysian General Elections.
The request was based on the excellent record of the Baram MP in providing services to the people in the area.
During the cordial discussion and meeting, Tiong said as the President of PDP, he had discussed the matter with the top leaders of the federal and state BN including the PDP Supreme Council. He said they had unanimously agreed to retain Anyi as a candidate in the coming General Elections.
Tiong urged members of SKNA, especially in PDP Telang Usan and Baram, to give their full cooperation and support to Anyi in the General Elections to enable him to secure a bigger winning majority.
In the last polls, Baram saw a three-cornered fight between Anyi, Roland Engan(PKR) and Patrick Sibat (Independent).
Anyi garnered 9,182 votes while Roland secured 8,988 votes and Patrick 363 votes.
