Slight increase in Miri’s flood victims

MIRI: The number of flood victims in Sarawak recorded a slight increase to 238 people from 78 families as at 12pm compared to 234 victims from 77 families at 8am yesterday.

Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBNS) secretariat said the relief centre at Medamit community hall in Limbang saw a rise from 114 victims from 37 families to 118 people from 38 families.

“The number of flood victims in five other evacuation centres in operation at Dewan Sukan Tatau, Dewan Balai Raya Kampung Jabai, Dewan Balai Raya Sebauh, Dewan Masyarakat Ukong and SK Menuang stayed unchanged,” said the statement yesterday.

It added that there were three relief centres opened in Bintulu namely Dewan Sukan Tatau with 15 victims from four families, Dewan Balai Kampung Jabai two victims from one family and Balai Raya Sebauh with 15 people from six families. “SK Menuang in Limbang is sheltering 36 victims from 11 families,” it said.
