KUCHING: The Spring shopping mall here launched its Gawai Harvest Festival and Hari Raya Aidilfitri campaign themed “Together Gather, Jom Celebrate” at the mall on Monday night.

The campaign features elements of the two festive celebrations and invites shoppers to partake in an interactive and immersive festive experience. Shoppers can take a leisurely stroll across the mini lush ride paddy fields and pose for a photo with the 3D centrepiece featuring an Iban Longhouse.

There is also the Raya Bazaar with colourful festive displays inspired by picturesque Malay fishing villages, offering a plethora of outfits, accessories and Raya treats. Present to launch the campaign on behalf of the Chief Minister was Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development, Datuk Haji Mohd Naroden Haji Majais.

Naroden pointed out that the recent abolition of GST would lessen the burden of shoppers and ease domestic spending during this festive season and the upcoming Malaysia Mega Sale Carnival.

“With the increase in domestic spending, we can expect a boost in both the retail industry, e-commerce sector and improve our tourism industry,” he added. Naroden also applauded the mall for its creative and interactive way of representing both festive celebrations in one theme.

“The mall has created a platform for all the community to come together through these beautiful festive decorations and displays,” he said.

He stressed that Sarawak’s rich diversity and culture and racial and religious tolerance must be treasured and upheld for future generations. Meanwhile, General Manager of the Spring Management Services Sdn. Bhd., Datin Christine Ling, disclosed that soon, the mall would bring in the first HLA clothing store in Sarawak.

“HLA is the latest fast-growing fashion retailer in China. It is a one-stop, self-option men’s wear,” she said. Other brands to watch out for in the coming months, according to her, include Aeon Wellness, Fossil and Daiso. Meanwhile, during the festive campaign, shoppers can shop for unique handwoven bags and baskets from the Penan Women Project or learn how to make their own pairs of tassel earrings. Children can also enjoy an afternoon of arts and crafts with MY Art Studio and MY Craft Studio.
