State BN has received 80% of the names of candidates

KUCHING:  The State Barisan Nasional has received at least 80 per cent of the names of candidates who will contesting in the coming 14th General Election.

Minister of Rural Electricity and Water Supply, Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom disclosed this to reporters after attending the State Barisan Nasional Committee “Breaking of Fast”  with Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg at  Dewan Undangan Negeri in Petra Jaya here on Wednesday night.

According to Rundi, who is also the Secretary General of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), the party will be fielding some new faces in the GE14 this time.

“Among the new faces is the replacement for Member of Parliament for Puncak Borneo, Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit who has confirmed  he will not be contesting in the coming General Election due to health reasons,” he said.

Rundi also revealed that  a  number of incumbents would continue to defend their seats  while there were others who would vacate their seats.

“BN candidates are chosen based on a number of criteria including feedback from the grassroots, their popularity and their report cards,” he pointed out.

“We will announce the list of candidates later on and for the time being, I cannot confirm   who will be contesting,” he added.

Rundi said the Sarawak BN was ready for the GE14 which would be held anytime now.
