KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the State Barisan Nasional (BN) accepted the decision made by the Kuching High Court to restore Dr Ting Tiong Choon as the Pujut state assemblyman on Saturday.

Tengah, who is Acting Deputy President of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), said such decisions were common in the country’s judicial process.

However, he added that the state BN would appeal against the High Court’s decision.

Tengah was interviewed during the breaking of fast event for members of Persatuan Anak Jati Lawas di Kuching at Parimpan Restaurant at Jalan Matang here on Saturday night.

400 members of Persatuan Anak Jati Lawas di Kuching attended the event.

Hailing from Lawas himself, the Bukit Sari Assemblyman advised the members to be united and help each other to succeed.

He believed that people from Lawas could achieve success under any conditions if they worked hard.

He said they had left their homes and families for greener pastures. Thus, they should not waste the opportunities available to fulfil their parents’ high expectations of them.

Apart from that, Tengah, who is also the Second Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, stressed the importance of education as one way of changing their lives.

“What is certain, the Centre of Technical Excellence (CENTEX) and MARA Junior Science College (MRSM) will be set up in Lawas,” he said.

He urged students to study hard and attain higher education or go for skills training as skilled manpower was much needed in the state now.
Tengah, who is the advisor of the association, also presented “duit raya” to the members’ children.
