KUCHING: The Sarawak football squad will undergo a new selection on December, 11. According to Sarawak Football Association (FAS) secretary-general, Razali Dolhan, the selection involved players who have been identified through Sarawak Cup 2017 Championships which took place in Mukah from November 5 to 11. “We have identified some potential players from the Sarawak Cup,” Razali said.

“They will be vying with players from President Cup and Youth Cup for places in the state’s senior team,” Miri emerged champions in the Sarawak Cup 2017 after beating Bintulu 5-3 through penalty kicks.

After full-time, the score was 1-1. FAS Coaches Pengiran Bala, David Usop, Mohamad Mantali, Azley Abdullah, Sulaiman Mustanir, Safri Amit and Abu Bakar Amran have ‘camped’ for a week in Mukah to scout for potential players.

The Sarawak 2018 squad will be guided by Pengiran Bala, who served as assistant coach and acting head coach in last season. Sarawak is also expected to use one hundred percent local players in next season league. Meanwhile, it is likely that the Sarawak team will play in the Super League next season following the withdrawal of the T-Team team.
