KUCHING: The Sarawak Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Research supports events that can empower Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education, particularly for youths in the state, said Minister, Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong.

He said that in the digital economy, the state needed youths skilled in high-tech and digital marketing, e-commerce and English.

“This is a good opportunity for educators as well as the youths to hear experts in the technology fields and, hopefully, increase the number of students taking up STEM to at least 40 per cent by year 2030,” he said in a statement after representatives of the organiser of the forthcoming “TEDxKenyalang: Outreach the World” event called on him here yesterday. – Bernama
