According to Sunway Kuching CEO Joseph Lim, the IABLevel 1 Professional Certificate in Bookkeeping is suitable for working adults who are interested in upgrading their basic accounting skills.

“The qualification is aimed at individuals who have some practical knowledge and skills and wish to gain anaccredited qualification in the subject”, Lim said. Lim added that the Professional Certificate might also be suitable for SPM school leavers who want to have a strong foundation before embarking in commerce, accountancy and business-related degree programmes.

Students are taught how to carry out a range of basic dayto- day book-keeping routines and activities using a single entry manual book-keeping system. Upon completion of study for this qualification, candidates will be able to understand the functions of book-keeping and accounting, make simple Value Added Tax (VAT) calculations, prepare and check business documents, process and record credit transactions, make and receive payments through a Bank Current Account, process receipts and payment through the Analysed Cash Book, prepare a Bank Reconciliation Statement and process Petty Cash Transactions.
