KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party  will be holding a special political talk by “a very important VIP” at Kampung Haji Baki on May 3 at 9.00 pm. Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian said that they would also have very important VIPs visiting Kpg Haji Baki with special surprises. “I am inviting as many as possible to come to the talk,” he told a press conference at the SUPP Batu Kawah branch office here yesterday.

Sim added that if he won the election, he wanted to make sure that one-third of the Members of Parliament came from Sabah and Sarawak. “I have spoken about this in the Parliament before and the time I touched on it was on March 7, 2018. “Why is it so important? It is because if you want to change the constitution, you need two thirds of the representation in Parliament,” he added.

“Right now, Sarawak and Sabah have only 56 MPs out of the 222 MPs. So,we only make up 25 percent of the MPs.

“If Sabah and Sarawak have one third of the MPs, the Federal government will never have the chance to take what Sabah and Sarawak have without the support of both states. “So we must safeguard the interest of Sabah and  Sarawak for the future generations. “We need one-third representation to prevent any change in the constitution concerning our interest,” he said.
