KUCHING: Secretary General of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP), Dato Sebastian Ting led his party members to commemorate the first anniversary of the passing of the late Chief Minister, Pehin Sri Adenan Satem by holding a vigil at the Padungan Cat statue Thursday night at 7 pm. There was a minute silence and candles were lit.

Ting said the late Adenan is greatly missed and his people’s friendly policies in his short tenure as the Chief Minister will always be appreciated and remembered.

He said the man fondly called as Tok Nan helped to abolish toll, lower electricity tariff and give millions to assist Chinese schools but came up with a policy that the UEC is recognised by the state government apart from announcing English as an official language in Sarawak.

“Tok Nan had also wanted to get back the autonomy of Sarawak besides many other policies that benefit us. We will always be grateful of what he had done for our party by ensuring we were not de-registered and to what SUPP is today,” he added.
