SIBU: A ‘meet the people session’ of P211 Lanang held in conjunction with Ngiling Tikai do to mark the end of Gawai Dayak festive celebration at Rumah Grace Itun, Sungai Salim on Saturday night was attended by about 350 people.

The event was organised by the coordinator of BN/SUPP Lanang.

In his speech to officiate at the function, potential candidate for P211 Lanang, Kelvin Kong said now is the time for the people in the P211 Lanang to shift and fully support the BN-SUPP in the coming 14th General Election (GE14).

According to Kong, Lanang Parliamentary area needs elements of change and still requires development in terms of basic infrastructures and so forth in improving the comfort of its people.

“Lanang Parliamentary is held by the opposition and as such Lanang lost about RM50 million in five years.

“The allocation channeled by the federal government to a Barisan Nasional (BN) elected representative is RM10 million a year.

“For one term or five years, the total amount of allocation is RM50 million and that amount could have been used to develop the Lanang Parliamentary. However, since Lanang Parliamentary has fallen into the opposition, we have not received any such huge allocation,” he said at the ceremony.

Also present were another potential candidate for P211 Lanang Councillor Joseph Chieng, SUPP Dudong branch secretary Kong Sing Ping, organising chairman Councillor Frederick Taip, and longhouse chief Grace.

Meanwhile, Kong added that since Lanang fell to the opposition, there had been no changes in the Lanang and it still required development and infrastructure development.

Therefore, he hopes that the people will think wisely because Lanang still needs development.

“We must ensure that Lanang is enjoying rapid development under BN after the coming 14th General Election,” he stressed.
