KUCHING: Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu is the new State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief effective yesterday.
Alexson succeeded Supt Mohammad Sari’e Fauzi who will head the GOF 11th Battalion.
The handing over of duty ceremony was witnessed by Head of Sarawak Police Management Department, SAC Zamani Hamdan at Baitulmakmur Building, Petra Jaya here.
Alexson in his speech said the main duty of traffic police was to ensure traffic rules and regulations are obeyed by road users.
“I will focus on the enforcement and prevention of accident on the road to ensure that accident rate is kept to the minimum level,” he said.
Alexson also wanted the department to investigate road accidents transparently and with integrity.
“We don’t want out personnel or investigation officer to be involved in misconduct while on duty,” he said.
Prior to his appointment, Alexson was attached to the Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) at Bukit Aman for nine months.
