KUCHING: Sarawak chief coach Ian Andrew Gillan admitted that the plan he used when his team were defeated (3-1) in the hands of Perak in the FA Cup match at the Lumut Navy Stadium in Perak on Saturday night did not work out.

Ian said at the beginning of the match it seemed to work when Sarawak took the lead through a goal by import striker Mateo Roskam. But he said they failed to maintain their performance until the end when the host team bounced back with three goals. ‘”We started quite well when leading Perak by a goal from Mateo Roskam.

“But everything changed after the host team came back with three goals,” he said. According to Ian, tactical changes made in the second half also failed to work.

“Obviously, there’s a difference between our players and Perak squad who are in the Super League, but I complimented our players for trying to make a positive result in the game,” he said at the end of Sarawak’s campaign in the FA Cup.
