SWB plans various activities to celebrate World Water Day

SIBU: Sibu Water Board (SWB) has planned various programmes in conjunction with the World Water Day celebration in order to create awareness to the public on the importance of water.

SWB general manager Sudin Jaya said SWB had taken the initiative to organise several programmes for the participation of all, especially students, from 22 April till end of October 2017.

Among the programmes to be held are SWB open day, colouring contest, Sibu Water Board’s English essay writing competition, Sibu Water Board short video competition, educational programmes at selected schools, and educational programes with the community.

According to Sudin, SWB Open Day and Customer Day 2017 will be held on 22 April from 9.00am to 4.00pm at Sibu Water Board Treatment Plant in Salim.

“Activities to be held on the open day and customer day include video presentation, customer service counter, visit to the water treatment plant, lucky draw, quiz contest, and so forth. All the activities are open for all visitors,” he told a press conference held at SWB office here, yesterday.

On the colouring contest to be held on 22 April, he said it would be held from 9.00am to 2.30pm at SWB Multi-purpose hall and the participants would only need to bring their own colouring equipment, while the colouring paper would  given during registration.

He said the contest would be divided into three categories, namely category A for children aged 6 and below, category B (children aged 7 to 9) and category C (children aged 10 to 12).

Registration fee is RM1 per participant.

On SWB English essay writing competition, Sudin said the competition would start on 1 April and close on 21 May.

He said SWB wouldl announce the winners of the English essay writing competition by post.

On the SWB short video competition, he said the competition would start on 1 April and close on 31 May.

“The competition is divided into two categories, namely secondary school and public categories. It is open to both individuals and teams. There is no minimum or maximum in the number of members for a team submission. A representative or leader should, however, be designated in team submission,” Sudin explained.

SWB will hold educational programmes at selected schools in July and with the community in August 2017.
