KUCHING: Sarawak Women for Women Society (SWWS) is inviting the public to join its next forum – on sexual harassment- in its Women for Progress Series to discuss the situation in Malaysia.
Sexual harassment is making headlines across the world. The #MeToo movement is growing as it is a wide-spread problem.
At the forum entitled “Sexual Harassment: Speak Out”, three panellists will address the issue. They are Dr Angie Garet who will examine myths and realities, Kimberley Tan who will ask “Where is your Consent?” and lawyer, Chua Kuan Ching who will highlight existing laws and what needs to be changed.
Angie, who is also the Vice President of SWWS, said although the organisation had been raising awareness on sexual harassment for many years, it was still difficult for those who had been abused to come forward.
“This will change if there are clearer channels and more support. It is time we had a #MeToo Sarawak campaign,” she added.
The forum, which is supported by iCube Innovation ,will start at 2.00pm on Saturday, October 6, at iCube centre at ICOM Square, Kuching (B424-432 Block B, Level 4).
Those interested can register for free by emailing or texting their names to SWWS on sarswws@gmail.com or 013 8044 285.
