SIBU: Members of the public are welcome to attend the “Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Magnet Field (EMF) Public Safety Talk” which will be held tomorrow at the Sibu Islamic Complex.
The talk, which is organised by SACOFA in collaboration with Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) and Malaysian Nuclear Agency, will begin at 8.30am and end at 12.30pm.
SMC Chairman, Datuk Tiong Thai King told a press conference held at the SMC office here yesterday that the talk aimed to educate the public on RF and EMF with focus on health and safety to human beings.
“The talk also aims to give the audience a simple overview of wireless technologies, mobile communications and how antennas and propagation work,” he said.
Apart from that, Tiong said the talk would also touch on human exposure, biological effects, non-ionising radiation and discuss any health concerns of the public.
He said the talk was important in order to share with the public what the authorities were doing in terms of testing, regulations and compliance to protect the public.
He called on the public to attend the talk and ask questions to address their rising concern and negative perception on health and safety issues regarding these emissions.
