KUCHING: Ten Zhu Sze Temple Committee members led by its Advisor, Dato Ngeng Eng Cheng, paid a courtesy call on the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud at the Astana here yesterday mroning.

During the call, Taib was briefed by Ngieng, a prominent businessman who is a Director of several companies including New Sarawak Tribune, Usaha Cendera Sdn Bhd and Kuching Specialist Hospital, on the history and activities carried out by Zhu Sze Temple.

The temple, which is located in Tabuan Laru, a sprawling housing estate in the state capital developed by Usaha Cendera Sdn Bhd, is involved in charity work apart from being a place of worship for its many devotees and the general public.

The state’s well-known memorial to Sarawak’s World War II Heroes in honour of the drivers and mechanics who went to Yin-nan, China from 1939-1942 to support China’s fight against the Japanese aggressors, is located in front of the temple.
