Tengah attends send-off ceremony for contingent

KUCHING: The 43-member Sarawak Syariah Judiciary Department contingent will be participating in the “4th Sports Championship” organised by the Syariah Judiciary Department, Malaysia.

The event will take place at Universiti Teknologi Melaka from August 10 until August 13.

The contingent, which comprises 10 women and 33 men, will be led by the Chief Registrar of the Sarawak  Syariah Judiciary Department, Tuan Abdul Karim Mohd Nuli.

Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan yesterday attended the send-off ceremony for the contingent  held in the compound of Wisma Sumber Alam in Petra Jaya here.

Tengah, who is also Minister of Urban Development and Natural Resources, in his speech, urged the participants to project a good image of Sarawak during the championship.

He hoped that the contingent would make Sarawak proud by achieving victory in the events it participated in.

He also reminded the  members to do their outmost in all nine events, namely, Football 9 Aside, Badminton, Table Tennis,  Carom, Bowling, Shooting, Dart, Archery and Chess.

Also present at the send-off ceremony were Acting Chief Syariah Judge, Awang Suhaili Ledi and Chairman of the Welfare and Recreation Club of the State Syariah Judiciary Department, Haji Najarudin Nedri.
