KUCHING: The Universiti Technologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak Campus here will hold three happening events starting at the end of this October until December this year. The UiTM Sarawak Campus team led by UiTM Rector Professor Dato Dr Jamil Hamali paid a courtesy call yesterday to Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at Baitulmakmur building, Petra Jaya here. Karim said the three events namely UiTM Sarawak Charity Golf Championship 2017, Drone Competition (FPV Freestyl e Competition) and UiTM Run 2017 are indeed given full support by the ministry.
“We will give our cooperation in every part that UiTM needs us too and I find that these activities that will be held soon are interesting and will get good response from the public,” he pointed out. The UiTM Sarawak Charity Golf Championship 2017 that will be held for the fifth time which kicks off on this October 28, at Sarawak Golf Club, Petra Jaya is aimed to collect funds for charity bodies in Sarawak, ‘Tabung Sri Kenyalang’ and to change the destiny of our children programme.
A press release said, about 128 players from various agencies and departments will join the championship which has the chance in winning the grand prize of Proton Iriz and iPhone 7 and also other lucky draw prizes. Meanwhile, for the Drone (FPV Freestyle Competition) 2017 will be held on November 11 in conjunction with International Conference on Computer and Drone Applications (ConDa) from November 9 to November 11 at Damai Beach Resort.
The third activity, UiTM Run 2017 will be held on December 2 at UiTM Sarawak Campus Students Centre which targets a total of 1300 participants to participate in three runs namely 10km, 5km and 3km. The participation registration will be closed on November 3, 2017 or after the target number of participants is achieved.
