Tiong announces RM50,000 MRP grants for Kpg Nyalau Tengah

BINTULU: Member of Parliament for Bintulu Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing last Sunday announced Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants of RM20,000 for the renovation of Kampung Nyalau Tengah’s  community hall and RM30,000 for the construction of the village’s Futsal court .

He made the annoucement when attending the Kedayan annual thanksgiving ceremony – ‘MakanTahun’ – at Kampung Nyalau Tengah about 100 kilometres from here.

He also presented a personal contribution of RM3,000 to the Village Development and Security Committee(JKKK) to run beneficial activities beneficial for the villagers.

Speaking at the event, Tiong said the easy accessibility from the Pan Borneo Highway and the Bintulu-Miri coastal road would be a boon to tourism industry, especially for Kedayan community in Nyalau area, and the development of the Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP)

“The tourism prospects are good but they need to be identified and pursued by the local community,” he said.

He said those who would resourcefully adopt holistic and systematic approach in reaping the fruits of development would benefit greatly.

Among the potential opportunities are organic food production, handicrafts making, cottage industry and homestay.

Meanwhile, about 500 people attended the Makan Tahun at Kampung Nyalau Tengah.
