KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)  advanced to the final of the Tan Sri P Alagendra Cup 2019 after demolishing Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) 3-0 in their semifinal tie at the National Hockey Stadium, Bukit Jalil here on Friday.

The success sees TNB coached by Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin getting their chance to erase their runner-up finish in  2016 when they lost  1-2 to Sapura Hockey Club.

“We will have go all out and avoid making mistakes to lift the title,” Nor Saiful Zaini told reporters after the match.

“We will have go all out and avoid making mistakes to lift the title.”

TNB’s goals were supplied by Syed Mohamad Syafiq Syed Cholan (24th minute penalty corner) and field goals by Muhammad Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal and Firhan Ashaari  in the 26th and 32nd minutes respectively.

Meanwhile, UniKL coach Arul Selvaraj admitted that TNB were the better team and deserved to be in the final.

“They had 10 national players and mounted speedy attacks and counter attacks which we had difficulty containing,” he said

Their opponents in the final are Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) who beat Maybank  in the other semifinal tie.

The final is scheduled for Sunday at the same venue. – Bernama
