KUCHING : The youngest son  of Peni Muhi escaped death because he did not join his two elder brothers and father on a fishing trip last Saturday. Instead, he opted to follow his mother who was visiting relatives.

Meanwhile, Peni could only watch  in despair as his two sons disappeared when the boat they were in overturned at Sg. Plaie, Samarahan   due to strong winds at about 1.25pm that day.

The bodies of the two boys, Mohd Hazim Nur Aiman, 13 and Haziq, 15, were later found between 2.45pm and 3pm near the spot where they went missing.

The two siblings were supposed to join some  activities in school. They chose not to  go and instead persuaded their father to bring them  on a prawn fishing trip.

As the boat overturned, Peni did not have time to grab his sons and saw them clinging to each other before they disappeared into the sea.  Peni was rescued by nearby fishermen.

Firemen were at the scene to look for the bodies.

The  remains of the two boys were sent to  the Sarawak General Hospital for a post mortem.
