MIRI: Two women in a Perodua Viva were injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a Toyota car at the Kuala Baram Bypass traffic light, near here yesterday morning. Sources said the two women, from Senadin, were heading towards Tudan when the accident occurred around 1am. The other car was reported to be driven by a man.

“Upon arriving at the traffic light, the victims’ car collided with a Toyota coming from the direction of Permyjaya and heading towards Senadin.

“The impact caused the two women to suffer head injuries and other parts of their bodies while the man was not injured,” the source said. He said the two victims were then sent to Miri Hospital for further treatment.

He further explained that the accident was believed to have occurred after one of the cars tried to rush through the red signal light but went out of control and rammed into the other car. “Anyway, the police are investigating the cause of the accident,” he said.
