Two detained for shoplifting

MIRI: Two suspects were detained for allegedly stealing 10 chocolate bars from a supermarket at Pelita Commercial Centre here, yesterday.

The two men aged 21 and 26, were detained by security guards of the supermarket after they failed to produce payment receipt of the chocolate bars.

According to a source, earlier on workers of the supermarket had seen the two men putting something in their sling bags.

The security guards then detained the two men after they tried to bring out the chocolate bars without paying.

After a thorough check, security guards found 10 chocolate bars in possession of the two men. The chocolate bars are worth RM86.

Two men were then detained before they were handed over to the police for their further action.

They are expected to be charged under Section 380 of the Penal Code for shoplifting.
