KUCHING: Two individuals fell victim to scams between 27 August and 2 October.

One of the two victims, an unemployed woman from Bintulu lost RM900 after a caller told her that he was an undercover MACC staffer.

The caller also struck fear in the woman by saying that he knew the woman was involved in money laundering and drug trafficking. The caller then asked the woman to bank in RM900 to an account to avoid any trouble which she did.

The second victim was a teacher from Belaga who said that she lost RM1,850 after a caller known as Ben Marshall from Scotland, United Kingdom asked her to bank in money to his account. She has known the caller for a few months.

Ben told the teacher that he has sent her a parcel but it was stopped by airport customs where she has to pay a fee before the parcel can be released.

The teacher then bank-in RM1,850 to a given account. However, the teacher only realised that she has been cheated when the parcel did not arrive.

Sarawak Head of Commercial Crime, Supt Mustafa Kamal confirmed receiving the two reports.
