Two houses at Jalan Teku, Kampung Bahagia Jaya, destroyed by fire at midnight on Wednesday.

SIBU: Twenty people were made homeless when two houses were destroyed by fire at Jalan Teku, Kampung Bahagia Jaya at midnight on Wednesday.

Sibu Division Fire chief, Abdul Mutalib Rashid said 16 personnel from Sungai Merah and Sibu fire stations led by TPgB Abdul Mutalif Ja’afar and PBKII Eddy Kilat were dispatched to the location after receiving a distress call at 12.23am.

He said upon arrival at the scene at 12.34am both wooden houses were 100 per cent destroyed by the fire.

Abdul Mutalib said the fire was brought under control and the operation ended at 1.20am.

No injury or casualty was reported in the incident, he added.
