Uggah visits low-lying areas in Betong

BETONG: Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas has asked the Betong Department of Irrigation and Drainage  (DID), Betong District Council and Betong  Public Works Department to prepare  flood prevention action plans and present them to the government before the end of the year to facilitate  acquisition funds.

Uggah, who is also the Chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee,  revealed this after visiting several low-lying areas in    Betong Division which were affected by the rising water level here yesterday.

Uggah said  many actions needed to be taken to prevent flooding and they included clearing the   the existing drainage systems.

  

He urged those who lived in the low-lying areas to watch out for  the high tides and continuous rain.
