UPU programme successfully held

SARIKEI: The Higher Education Department’s University Entrance Unit (UPU) successfully organised a programme called ‘Mari Masuk IPT’ recently in conjunction with Pan Borneo Education Exploration Sarikei Zione (Eksplorasi Pendidikan Pan-Borneo Zon Sarikei) which attracted many students from Bintangor, Julau and here.

The annual programme was meant to inform and look for potential students for entry into Public Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA) for 2018. 

The one-day programme was also participated by some IPTA namely Universiti Malaysia (UM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Samarahan Campus, Politeknik Mukah, Kolej Komuniti Sarikei, Giat Mara Sarikei Branch and National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) Sarikei Branch.

The programme was officiated at by Director of UPU, Mazula Sabudin.

In his speech, Mazula urged parents and potentials IPTA students to acquire as much information on the course they are interested in and to chose the correct institution before filling up the UPU forms online.

He added that some institutions have different entry requirements hence some application will be rejected.

Mazula also disclosed that graduates of Community College Malaysia are in demand by industry players and added that some of them are offered jobs from companies even before they finish their course or graduate.

The road show started from Lundu last week and has been going around to all zones in the state.

The next stop for the road show is Bintulu Civic Centre this Thursday.
