Vital for women to get their health checked

DALAT: The one-off endowment fund of RM1,000 per child born from 2019 onwards is a wonderful initiative by the state government to ensure the welfare of the children, said Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

“It is not only an incentive but for the future of our children as it could only be withdrawn after they reached the age of 18, and applies to any Sarawakian, regardless of backgrounds as long as they bear the registration code letter K.

They could be born in Sarawak, other places in Malaysia and even overseas, as long as they are ‘Anak Sarawak’,” she said during the 34th SK Sungai Ud Excellence Award Ceremony held at the school’s Dewan Jelita here yesterday. She added that the monetary incentive could be used for the expenditure of entering higher learning institutions, while for those who wish to venture into other fields such as entrepreneurship, the money could be made as minor starter capital. Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblyman, also emphasised on the importance of healthcare among the women.
