KUCHING: Pos Malaysia Berhad (Pos Malaysia) and Fujian Pacific Network Technology Co. Ltd. (FPNT) yesterday inked a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) to formalise the appointment of Pos Logistic Berhad (PLB) as FPNT’s exclusive and total e-Commerce logistics services provider in the region.

The MoC was signed by Pos Malaysia’s Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh and FPNT’s CEO Wang Chengqing.

Held at Pullman Hotel near here yesterday, the signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Chief Minister who is also Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Member of the Standing Committee who is also Secretary-General of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee Liang Jianyong.

Shukrie told the media that Pos Logistics’ collaboration with FPNT was a significant part of their growth trajectory journey in the e-Commerce segment, as well as being part of their long-standing strategy to be an exclusive and total e-Commerce logistics services provider in Southeast Asia region and other countries in the near future.

He added, the collaboration will enable Pos Logistics to be an international servicing hub in offering services such as transhipment, drop-shipping and freight forwarding, amongst others.

“We are very pleased to seal this strategic collaboration as it will strengthen our presence in the e-Commerce drop-shipping and transhipment services business for products originating from China.

“We in Pos Malaysia are fully committed and will intensify our efforts to become a full-fledged e-Commerce and logistics provider in the marketplace. My team and I will continue to put in place the building blocks to help us achieve our ambitions and secure Pos Malaysia’s sustainable growth for the long term,” he pointed out.

Concurrently, the MoC will also serve as a platform for Pos Malaysia and FPNT to exchange information that is deemed beneficial to both parties in paving ways to enhance its products, services and activities globally.

Meanwhile, Tengah when met by the reporters told, the MoC is a good beginning between the two private sectors as it augurs well for the e-Commerce because that is actually one of the areas that the state government wants to look into in terms of logistics.

“I am very happy that the private sectors from both sides engaging in this area and for us to go far in e-Commerce.  Logistics is very important.

“It is undeniable that at the moment, investment from China is increasing from time to time but, does not mean that we do not care about investments from other countries such as Japan and Korea,” he said, adding that China is quite aggressive because over there people apply their One Belt and One Road Initiative (OBOR).

Replying to a reporter’s question regarding the latest project total investment from China in the state, he said, the latest one was from a steel company in Samalaju worthing about USD3 billion.

He added, it was a single big investment where, the agreement was signed in Beijing and witnessed by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
