SIBU: Watt Zacchaeus of Utusan Borneo was elected the new chairman of Sibu Journalists Association (SJA) during its annual general meeting (AGM) and election on new office bearers held at Li Hua Hotel here on Tuesday night.

Watt is taking over as chairman from Yii Souk Ming of See Hua Daily News for the 2017-2019 term.

Earl Anek of Utusan Sarawak was elected vice-chairman while the post of secretary went to Florence Genta (New Sarawak Tribune) and Ruth Ampong (RTM Sibu) as vice-secretary. Yii Souk Ming was elected SJA treasurer.

The committee members are Kuon Piang Chung (Sin Chew Daily), Othman Ishak (Borneo Post), Borhaniza Ali Basah (Utusan Borneo), Frank Julian (Bernama) and Judan Bungap (Utusan Borneo).

Nelly Wong (International Times) was appointed SJA auditor.

Members of SJA also celebrated it members’ birthday, Frank Julian at the SJA AGM.
