Willie Mongin wins Puncak Borneo seat with majority 4,005 votes

PUNCAK BORNEO: Willie Mongin, a candidate from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), created history when he won and grabbed the Puncak Borneo Parliamentary seat from Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election.

Willie won by 18,865 votes with a majority of 4,005 defeating BN candidate Jeannoth Sinel who received only 14,860 votes while the STAR party candidate Buln Ribos won 795 votes.

Meanwhile, a total of 514 ballot papers were rejected and saw a total of 35,034 registered voters in the Puncak Borneo Parliament cast their votes in the GE13 this time.

The declaration of Puncak Borneo’s parliamentary election results was conducted by P.198 Puncak Borneo, Ranum ak Bari at 10pm at the Official Summit of the 14th Parliamentary General Assembly, P.198 Puncak Borneo, SMK Siburan Hall on Wednesday night.

When a declaration is made by a clerk, all candidates are not on site and they are all represented by their respective agents.

Willie, 43, has arrived at the official polling center at around 5.30 pm with its election agents and supporters to jointly await the outcome of the Puncak Borneo parliamentary general election, before rushing out on official matters.

While the STAR candidate, Buln Ribos was also present with STAR Party President, Lina Soo and several party members before leaving the hall before the official announcement was made. BN candidate, Jeannoth Sinel did not come to the center.

In the last GE13, the Puncak Borneo parliamentary seat, known as Mambong, was held by a BN representative, Dato ‘Sri Dr. James Jemut Masing after having won 20,461 votes with a majority of 9,721 defeating Willie Mongin from PKR (10,740 votes) and Dripin Sakoi from STAR (704 votes).
