KUCHING:  Two individuals and one association were awarded with the Sarawak Youth Awards during this year’s Karnival Go, Belia Sarawak.

Iszuan Haroni and Yunizar Yusop, winners of the Leadership Award, wemt home with RM3,000 each while Persatuan Kebajikan Pelajar Islam Sarawak (PERKEPIS), winner of the Youth Award for association, received RM10,000.

The award presentation ceremony took place at the Youth and Sports Complex; the individual recipients were chosen based on a few criteria including education level, volunteerism and involvement in youth development.

12 associations, 13 female candidates and 10 male candidates, registered for the awards and were analysed since April.

The panel of judges were chosen from the Youth and Sports Department (JBS), Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBSS) in the state, Saberkas Negeri Sarawak and Pertubuhan Belia Sarawak.

Kuching City North Mayor, Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai graced the award presentation ceremony.

Held in conjunction with the two- day carnival were various activities including an Aerobathon Competition, an Autoshow, a Kids Colouring Contest, Cycling and Running.
