MIRI: People living along the Sabah-Sarawak Gas Pipeline (SSGP) are advised to be alert of withered or yellowish vegetation which indicates pipe leakage.SSGP operation units head, Suffian Sabeli said the public would need to notify Petronas or other authorities in case any leakage occurred.

Speaking at the joint fire safety campaign with Fire and Rescue Department recently, he said people would hear hissing sound from the pipeline or see bubbles if the pipeline is under water and notice movement of leaves.

Meanwhile, people living along the pipeline area are reminded to notify Petronas a week before conducting any open burning.

SSGP is a 500-km natural gas pipeline that links Kimanis in Bintulu to Sabah.

The project is part of Petronas’ development of Sabah-Sarawak integrated oil and gas project which commenced operation in 2014.
