KUCHING: A woman was killed when the car she was driving crashed into a tree at Lorong Belatok, Jalan Salim in Sibu early yesterday.
It was believed that the incident occurred at around 4.00am while the victim was travelling along the road when the vehicle suddenly went out of control, hit a tree and nearly crashed into a drain by the roadside.
Members of the public who saw the victim’s car alerted the Fire and Rescue Department at 4.16am.
Six firefigthers from Sibu fire station led by Senior Fire Officer II Henry Ho dashed to the scene to extricate the victim who was pinned to her seat.
The woman, whose identity was not known at press time, was pronounced dead by paramedics after they failed to revive her.
The body was handed over to the police who sent it to Sibu Hospital for further action.
