KUCHING: Women entrepreneurship association provides more than just the support for those (women) in terms of business as it also includes other matters, said Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, According Fatimah, for those women that is new to entrepreneurship, by being with the NGO, together with the people of the same mind and passion, there are lots of benefits that they can get.
“Not only we talk about business, but there are other things that members can share with you. “That is why I always encourage our women to join any association or NGO (non-government organisation) in order to get as much information that would benefit you in other aspects of life, apart from business,” said Fatimah when officiating at the Women Entrepreneurship Empowerment and Product Launching event held at Sapana Living Enterprise, Jalan Abell, yesterday.
She also disclosed that her ministry is requesting more fund allocation from the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg to help women entrepreneurs.
She said most of the women entrepreneurs are faced with capital problem to start their business due lack of funding opportunities, overly stringent funding requirements and many others.
“With that reason, early this year (3 February 2018), Chief Minister had announced that an allocation of RM500,000 for women department and another RM500,000 for welfare department to help the women in entrepreneurship.
“For the women department, we have this grant of RM50,000 maximum to help the women to start their business, and it can be applied through our women department,” said Fatimah, adding there must be a business plan, as part of the requirement to apply for the assistance.
