The tenders for the proposed Muara Lassa Bridge and Batang Paloh Bridge, now in the design process, are likely to be called by the end of this year.

Assistant Minister of Coastal Road Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the bridges were approved by his ministry and fully funded by the State Government.

“At the same time,  Muara Lassa Bridge is now among the Chief Minister’s Walkabout Projects,” he said when answering a question from Daro Assemblyman Safiee Ahmad during the State Legislative Assembly (DUN)  sitting yesterday.

Julaihi added that the bridge projects were expected to be implemented in the first quarter of 2019.
“Muara Lassa Bridge is a 2.43 km concrete balanced cantilever bridge.

“When completed, it will be the second longest bridge after Batang Lupar Bridge,” he said.
Julaihi also said that the approach roads on both sides of the river to the bridge needed to be built.
“Batang Paloh Bridge is a 1.7m concrete balance cantilever bridge and involves a 4km long approach road, “ he added.

He said many bridge designs could be built depending on the allocations approved by the government.
“But more important is the connectivity which becomes our priority when we construct a bridge,” said Julaihi.
