KOTA SAMARAHAN: The quick action by workers in extinguishing flames from a petrol bomb thrown by two suspects on a motorcycle saved a petrol station in Jalan Kuching-Kota Samarahan here from being gutted by fire in an after midnight incident last Tuesday night.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said they received a report about the incident at 12.07 am before one fire engine and 11-member team, along with an emergency medical response support (EMRS) ambulance, from the Samarahan Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene.

“When we arrived at the scene, the petrol station workers have already put out the fire by using two units of portable fire extinguishers. Only 10 per cent of the petrol pump was damaged.

“According to the workers and the station manager, two unknown men on motorcycle approached the station right after midnight and hurled a petrol bomb at one of the petrol pumps before fleeing the scene,” he added.
