KUCHING: Some 300 people are expected to take part in this year’s sixth edition of Yogathon being organised by the Art of Living Kuching.

Held in conjunction with International Day of Yoga, it will be held this Sunday (24 June) from 7am to 10am at the Youth and Sports Complex here.

During the event, participants will be challenged to complete the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) by repeating 12 yoga poses at an interval of 108 times.

The aim of the event is to inform the public on the benefits of yoga in managing stress.

Instructors will be on site to assist as participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies and do what they can within their capabilities and at their own pace.

Besides, there will also be lucky draw sessions as well as booths promoting various health and fitness products.

Admission for the event is free of charge and is open to all ages regardless of their fitness level or whether or not they’ve done yoga before.

Those who are interested can register with any of the centre’s volunteers or participating yoga centres.

However, participants are required to bring along their own yoga mat, drinking water, face towel, and clothes to change after the event should there be a need for it.

Participants are also reminded to wear clothes that are comfortable and allow them to stretch and bend.
