KUCHING: Non-government organisations (NGOs) in the Tanjung Datu constituency in Lundu received a total of RM80,000 in minor rural project (MRP) grants on Wednesday.

Tanjung Datu assemblywoman Datuk Amar Jamilah Anu, who officiated at the presentation ceremony, also presented aid to students continuing their studies at higher learning institutions.

“Last May and June, Lundu District Officer Gustian Durani represented me to present Phases 1 and 2 of the MRP grants for the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) and NGOs. This was to the tune of RM349,000.

“This shows the concern of the Sarawak government which provides opportunities to NGOs to move actively and assist students in furthering their studies.

“Hopefully, all the contributions will be utilised well for a better future,” she said at the ceremony held at Dewan Serbaguna Mahligai Gading, Lundu.

Present were Gustian, community leaders Bentani Suni and Benjamin Gersit Jais and Tanjung Datu Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) youth chief Azizul Annuar Adenan.
