‘Ni Hao Ma?’ Learn Mandarin in Taiwan while travelling

KUALA LUMPUR: The Mandarin Chinese-language centres of Taiwan’s universities and the tourism industry will offer innovative tours that combine local cultural adventures with language learning for visitors to enjoy trips to Taiwan.

According to a statement from the Office of Global Mandarin Education, the more-than-just-sightseeing trip offers a culinary tour by the Tamkang University. Participants shop for ingredients in a traditional market and participate in a cooking session, guided by a professional language instructor.

Meanwhile, Chung Yuan Christian University offers four different tours consisting of a visit to historical sites; exploration of aesthetics of modern and historical buildings; introduction of the culture of indigenous groups; and, classic cultural activities.

In Southern and Central Taiwan, Feng Chia University combines language learning with themed cultural tours to local attractions such as the Feng Chia Night Market, while Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages offers language learning with delectable Taiwanese cuisine.

For an immersive experience of Taiwan, visitors are recommended to try cultural tours that are immensely more satisfying than standard sightseeing packages, while learning to speak a language that is used by 1.2 billion people worldwide.
