KUCHING: Nicholas Kudi has been appointed as pro-tem chairman of Pewaris PRS – Parti Rakyat Sarawak’s new wing for members aged 18 to 28 years.

Nicholas is the assemblyman for Baleh.

The appointments were made during the new wing’s meeting in Aug 25 but was only officially announced to the media yesterday (Sept 15).

Nicholas will be assisted by his committee, namely Vionie Zenith Grep (deputy chairman); Andriana Anchak Intai (secretary); Mike Callean Dem (vice secretary); Ian Zachary Reginald Ronnie (treasurer); Chris Daren Rantai (vice treasurer); Ivan Alexander Ong (publicity chief); Harryjoy Lian Jack (vice publicity chief); Natahsa Christopher, Juvensus Joseph, Sharmin, Gabriel Kudi and Khalid (excos).

“These youths come from diverse professional backgrounds, such as agriculture, business, engineering, medicine and law,” publicity chief Ivan Alexander said.

He said Pewaris is one of the four branches of PRS along with the parent body, women and youth wings.

“It will help chart the party’s future direction. It will not just be a voice in the party but will participate actively in shaping PRS’ goals,” he said.

The wing will be led almost entirely by the youths themselves, Ivan said.

Pewaris’ formation was approved at the party’s triennial delegates conference in April this year following amendments to the PRS constitution to empower youths between the ages of 18 and 28 years to involve actively in the party’s policy-making decisions.
