JIANGSU, China: With the continuous development of Nanjing smart city in Jiangsu province, one of its important focus is to provide a comprehensive and quality healthcare services to the citizens.
In order to promote the development of life and health leading industry, the local government in 2015 established the Nanjing International Healthcare Area (Niha) which is still developing in stages.
The area, with a total planned area of 5.6 square kilometres, is located in central Jiangbei New District, east of Dingxianghe Road, south to Pubin Road, west to Qilihe River and north of Yanshan Avenue.

By relying on the excellent geographical location, favourable natural ecological environment, by virtue of improved traffic system, complete carrier facilities and rich education and science resources, in addition to the integration of high-end resources at home and abroad, it has become an urban area with the most innovation potential.
Its development concept is based on four main concepts. First, to insist on standards of internationalisation, high-end, systematisation and marketisation, draw experience from international practice, build a four-level healthcare system, and promote joint development of medical clinical, medical education and medical research.
Secondly, it is to build a world-class panoramic healthcare service network of medical treatment, nursing, rehabilitation, elderly care, housing and an integrated support platform of medical treatment, teaching, research, pharmaceutical, and medical device.
The third concept is to adhere to historical patience and strategic resolve, to pursue higher standards, and to build a smart, humanistic, green and innovative community.
And lastly, to create a modern healthcare service and medical service industry cluster under the approach of in-depth integration of medicine, teaching, research, government and financial.
Its key construction area includes the Public Health Science and Innovative Centre, Horea Joslin Diabetes International Medical Research Centre, Nightingale Nursing College, Nanjing No.1 Middle School-Jiangbei Branch High School, Nanjing No.1 Affiliated Experimental Primary School, Jiangbei Branch Gulou Kindergarten, Community Neighbourhood Service Centre and Talent Apartment of Jiangbei Core Area.
With these medical service, science and technology innovation centre, education facilities including residential community centre in one area, it will definitely be one of the best health industries in China.
Earlier on, local media representatives of various organisations from Sarawak were being briefed on the development and purpose of NIHA at the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone complex in Nanjing.
