Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Datuk Ali Biju said the agricultural road project is an important initiative that would have an overall impact on the socio-economic development of rural areas.

“It is understood that the nine federal government projects that have been approved by KPLB will be implemented in the near future after the tender process is completed.

“The Sarawak Agriculture Department is appointed as the implementing agency, and among the projects are the repair and upgrade of orchard roads (jalan kebun) in Ulu Malong Kamidan Asal, Engkudu Atas, Sungai Klampai, Talun Scheme 15 Jalan Sessang-Nyabor, Sungai Malim Sessang, Lubok Kawi Nanga Ingu Kabo, Sungai Jirak Kabo and Sungai Beruang Ulu Kuman Budu.

“One of the project is the sewer supply and installation at the Sungai Pasir Kabo orchard road (jalan kebun),” the Saratok MP said in a statement yesterday.

He said that the projects also include the upgrading and building of new agricultural roads for smallholders to connect nearby villages.

“This is intended as the main vehicle route to transport agricultural goods and products.

“Therefore, it can be concluded that the construction of the roads is to improve the quality of life of the rural community,” he said.

It also aims to help private and small stakeholders in the plantation and commodity sectors.

“I express my appreciation to the federal government through KPLB and also the Sarawak Agriculture Department,” he said.
