KUCHING: Nine individuals were issued with a RM1,000 compound each for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) on Tuesday.
District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said during the first inspection in an eatery at Jalan Market, the patrol team spotted five men who were not wearing any face mask.
“In the second inspection, another five individuals – all men – were found violating the SOPs, also at an eatery in Jalan Astana.

“The two men were found to be Indonesians and they were immediately arrested,” he pointed out.
Awang Din also stated that all the locals who violated the SOPs, were compounded in accordance with the Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) No 7, Regulations 2020.
For the arrested Indonesians, investigation papers were opened under Section 269 of the Penal Code; Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 (Amendment 2002) and Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the Infected Local Areas) No 7, Regulations 2020.
