KUCHING: Nine members of a family were rendered homeless after their house at Jalan Temenggong Haji Gobel here was destroyed an early morning fire.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from the Petra Jaya fire station were rushed to the scene following the 1.30am report.
Upon arrival, they found the double-storey semi-permanent house structure engulfed in flames.
The occupants of the house comprised of four men, three women and two children.
Firefighters carried out rescue work and managed to control the fire at 2.13am to prevent it from spreading to anadjacent house.
The operation was also assisted by firefighters from the Kuching fire station. The operation ended at 3.09am. No injuries or casualties were reported during the incident and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
