Nine slapped with compounds

KUCHING: Police have issued nine compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Sarikei recorded six compounds and Miri with three compounds.

“On Thursday, 8,698 vehicles have been inspected in 10 roadblocks set up throughout Kuching district. This brought the numbers of cumulative vehicles inspected to 131,959.

“No vehicles were ordered to turn back and it maintained the tally of vehicles ordered to turn back, since Nov 9, at 613 vehicles,” said the SDMC.

The Ministry of Local Government issued 118 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils.

On SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,468 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 279 restaurants, supermarkets (184), banks (109), government offices (59), public markets (56), places of worship (53), leisure places (39), hawker stalls (27), construction sites (16), factories (11), and others (635).

Under Ops Benteng, a total of 1,670 vehicles were inspected through seven roadblocks in six districts — two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
