LANGKAWI: Knowing that there was a  “jerung” (shark) in their midst should have scared visitors at the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2019 (LIMA’19), instead, they were simply excited.

The ‘jerung’ did not land its jaws on them but was full of smiles obliging the many guests, old and young, who were thrilled to have their photos and wefies taken with their favourite hero.

Actor Hairul Azreen who played the role of Arman Rahmat or ‘Jerung’, the nickname given to him in the movie ‘Paskal’, was himself a first-time visitor to the exhibition, which ends today.

“The maritime segment of the event organised by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) was interesting and informative and was like a flashback,” said Hairul who was accompanied by fellow actor Hafizul Kamal, who played ‘Yan’ in the movie.

The movie Paskal, an abbreviation named after Pasukan Khas Laut (RMN Special Forces – an elite unit) was based on true events – Operation Dawn 8: Gulf of Eden and the role of Paskal in the United Nations Angola Verification Mission II.

Hairul shared that being in the exhibition brought back memories of episodes from the movie.

For Hafizul, the exhibition was both interesting and eye-opening.

“Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), we are visiting LIMA’19 for the first time and are able to have a   closer look at RMN’s activities and movements.

“There has also been a steady flow of visitors from early this morning,” added Hafizul at the Resorts World Langkawi (RWL), where the event was held.

Meanwhile, Hairul said he was overwhelmed by the numerous visitors who were there to view the many exhibits displayed by the maritime enforcement team, and who were also waiting patiently in line to take photos with their favourite stars from the movie. – Bernama
