BAU: Two premises carrying out illegal gambling had their power supply cut off last Friday.

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the operation was done by Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sesco) and a CID team from 9.30am to 11am.

It was done in accordance to Section 21A of the Common Gaming House Act 1953 to ensure that the premises would not return to operate.

“The premises included a 24-hour convenience store in Jalan Ang Guan Cheng and a stationery store in Jalan Bau.

“The power supply cut was done in front of the caretakers of both premises,” he said.

Poge added there was no use of force during the operation as they (caretakers of the premises) provide cooperation.
