KUCHING: In light of the increase in Covid-19 cases in Sabah, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that all Malaysians and non-Malaysians–except Sarawakians–in Sabah and Labuan would not be allowed to enter Sarawak starting Oct 4 to 18 (14 days).

“Sarawakians who are in Sabah and Labuan are allowed to return, but they have to apply through the EnterSarawak application and fill out the e-Health declaration form.

“They will be quarantined at the quarantine centre for 14 days and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) Covid-19 tests will be carried out on Day 2 and Day 10,” said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas at the SDMC Covid-19 update press conference on Thursday (Oct 1).

He said the cost of quarantine and RT-PCR tests for these Sarawakians would be borne by the state government.

He said that for the oil and gas sector, the existing SOP would still apply.

“For sectors categorised as essential services, including delivery services via land, they must get a special letter from the relevant Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) – Miri or Limbang – and they must undergo an RT-PCR Covid-19 test before starting their duties.”

He added that the next test must be taken every 14th day until further instruction.

Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, said that those who needed to go through Brunei Darussalam would need to comply with all the latest directives issued by the Brunei Darussalam government.

As for the procedure for entering Sarawak from overseas, he said that the previous SOP was still in force.

“All these directives are effective from Oct 4 to 18.”
